• Football remains the most popular sport in Romania, with 88% of Romanian adults stating they watched the matches of Euro 2024.
• The national team received an average score of 8 from Romanians, with a quarter of them giving the maximum score of 10.
• Ianis Hagi is by far the most popular footballer from the “Generația de Suflet” (Generation of the Heart), with 26% of Romanians mentioning him as their favorite player from the National Team. The top 5 is completed by Florin Niță (14.2%), Nicolae Stanciu & Radu Drăgușin (12%), and “Sonic” Andrei Rațiu (5%).
• Among football enthusiasts, the top is led by Nicolae Stanciu (21.1%), followed by Radu Drăgușin (19.7%), Denis Man (13.2%), Florin Niță and Ianis Hagi (11.8%).
• In the Euro 2024 final, Romanians supported Spain (73.6%).

According to an analysis conducted by Publicis Groupe Romania a few days after the end of the European Football Championship, Euro continues to be an event of great interest for Romanians, with 88% of them following it.

The national team is one of the vectors that manage to unite Romanians, with no less than 82% agreeing with the statement: the national team created a sense of unity among Romanian fans.

A close percentage (76.3%) agreed with the statement: I am proud of Romania’s national football team. This attitude was also reflected in the behavior of Romanians, with 35.3% of them stating that on the days of Romania’s matches, they specifically wore yellow shirts or other yellow clothing items.

A remarkable 27% of Romanians consistently follow football. To evaluate this indicator, the research included two specific questions from the field:

1. Which club team did Florin Niță, the goalkeeper of Romania’s national team, play for last season?
2. What was the result of the Switzerland – Romania match in the Euro 2024 qualifiers?

Those who correctly answered “Gaziantep” and “2-2” are considered to be true football enthusiasts, while those who did not know these details are not classified as football fans.

In the Euro 2024 final, Romanians supported Spain (73.6%).

The Publicis Groupe Romania analysis was based on quantitative research conducted on a nationally representative sample of women and men over the age of 18. The interviews were conducted between July 16-19, 2024.
